Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness

Our Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness course meets all federal Occupational Health and Safety legislative requirements for all provinces. The course has 5 modules with each section having a corresponding review quiz to reinforce and verify the participant’s understanding of the material. All questions are reviewed to ensure complete understanding of not only the answer but the principals behind it. Once each module has been successfully completed you will take the Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness Final Test and be awarded with a certificate upon success.

Introduction to H2S – properties, health hazards
Hazard Detection and Exposure Limits
In the Oil and Gas Industry
Safe Work Measures and PPE(personal protective equipment)
Emergency and Rescue Plans

Course Goals:

The central objectives for this course is to provide participants with:

Information about H2S, what it is, and why it is hazardous.
The properties of H2S such as state, smell and density
What is it about H2S that makes it a danger at exposure limits above the maximum
The knowledge to detect H2S using the appropriate equipment, methods, and measurements
Information on how to work around different levels of H2S and the PPE that should be used for each
Information on why rescue and emergency plans are required, and what they should consist of to eliminate any hazard or reduce risks as much as possible
Information regarding H2S in the oil and mining industry including the higher risks in such an industry and the different PPE and procedures that must be used.
